One Year Anniversary - Kristin & Kevin Celebrate One Year Together in Marriage

I loved this one. Kristin & Kevin are celebrating their first year of marriage, although I learned that day that they've known each other for around 10? I hope I have that number right, but it's almost a decade. So it was once again, such a beautiful thing to witness such strong love between a couple. I went home after this shoot and was telling a friend, 'ok, so I just took pictures of this couple...and they are so in love!! It was so cool to see. The husband was so into it and helped her with the whole set up and pour the tea and cut the cake! ". So what you have here is a beautiful set up by K&K eating their anniversary cake and drinking tea.

I don't know and never asked Kristin at the time but notice Kristin's nails. Looks like she's have a celebration on her wedding finger. I love the symbolism, girl (if you meant for that to be the case)! You rock.

So after this, we took off for the last bit of sunset in a field nearby and caught some other moments there which also rival in loveliness.

We were just in time before the sun peaked behind the trees. It was beautiful.

And on the way back I just HAD to do a few more blanket shots. It was just too beautiful to pass up, with the leaves, their colorful quilt that Kristin's mom gave her as a gift for their wedding.

ah...this was so fun. Thanks for having me along to celebrate with you guys!

Family - Amanda and Her Family

Amanda is someone I met when we were about the size of her daughter sitting in Seth's lap there...we were about that age when we met.  Many years later we reconnected in high school and were close during those years. And then again now as she is a mother and a wife we've connected again. Amanda is talented in so many ways; she has her own jewelry design company called, Bijou Girl, where she makes some of the most gorgeous pieces; she also home schools and is a mother to 4 beautiful children.

However, recently Amanda discovered there was some cancer in her body that she needed to fight off. As with any illness, it's so shocking and mind blowing to deal with. At the time of this shoot, she already knew it was there and about to start chemotherapy only days later. It was really hard for me to believe but I wanted to do something for her before the treatments began... so we did some family photos around the neighborhood and downtown.

Seth is just admiring Amanda. : ) I told Amanda later, it was like Seth just sort of makes you feel like everything's going to be alright. I think that sort of quality brings a lot of comfort.

After shooting below the bridge we needed to go up on top, so we crowded in the elevator and took the elevator up. At times symbolism will come out in my photos and this was one of those times.  As I was snapping, I saw something as they were lifted up inside this box of glass...I knew that this photo would symbolize something greater than the physical. It goes without saying that cancer can bring a lot of pain emotionally and physically. But even more so, the depth and height she and they will go as a family in other ways, I believe, will be like taking an elevator to new levels in other ways...going "low" brings you high and the view will be vast.
The scripture that comes to mind is, Isaiah 51:17 For this is what the high and lofty One says--he who lives forever, whose name is holy: "I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive thespirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite
Psalm 51:17, The Sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Please keep Amanda in your sincerest prayers as she walks through the next several months of therapy. She gave me the green light to share this information and in doing so, I would love if you took a moment to pray for complete healing and protection on her behalf. Thank you!!
