Jennifer Trafton & Pete Peterson, two amazing authors, whose stories intertwine in a way that is beautiful. As you will see, their ceremony was so intimate and personal to who they are...most of this blog is of the ceremony which is a rarity. They requested their vows be spoken in the middle of friends & family, so they walked to the center of the church and everyone surrounded them. It was such a sweet moment. Their wedding party consisted of children who were dressed the part of characters in their books as well...such an exciting and fun day. Also, check out the lovely flowers on the violin; all the flowers were done by Melissa Braodwell with Vintage Florals.


Both the Traftons & the Petersons are beautiful people inside & out; here is the moment when one of Jennifer's brothers is seeing her before she walked down the isle. Such love in this family!

Wow! what an enormously busy summer it has been! I'm so thankful and grateful to have had the opportunity to work with so many brides & grooms, babies, children & families. I am just now getting around to posting a wedding ceremony that took place on the steps of the Ryman, downtown Nashville. Sean & Dawn are a beautiful couple with a lot of rich history woven in their story. It was really special to be there witnessing this union. Special thanks to, Annie Heyward with A Chic Critique who helped organized the details of this event including using her amazing skills for Dawn's gorgeous makeup.

After their ceremony, Sean & Dawn rounded the corner and made their appearance at some of Nashville's most famous country music hot spots! Plenty of "congratulations" were being heard all over the place. : )

Cecilia turned three recently and her mom and I set out for downtown Franklin to get some photos of this monumental time in her life. Cecilia...if you spend five minutes with her, you will see she is not just any 3 year old. : ) She is probably one of the most settled, happy, joyful little girls I've met. She did amazing for the shoot. There is a whole other set of cute skirt and rain boot shots from another spot, along with icecream at Sweet CeCe's I did not include but are equally as fun and airy as these.

Franklin High School 20 Year Reunion

This was such a fun night! My sister had her 20 year high school reunion and invited me to come do a "photo booth" of sorts. I gathered a bunch of past and present Franklin High props (football jerseys, band uniforms, hats, flags) and then also some other fun stuff like cowboy hats, sunglasses and boas. Caitlin & Robert were married at the Loveless Barn on July 3rd. Their reception was also held there; it was such a beautiful day. Here are some images from their day...more to come, keep checking back!

Caitlin's veil was her mother's. It was one of the prettiest veils I'd ever seen. You'll see it on her in a future post of her Bridal shoot.

The girls were just oohing and ahhing over Caitlin when she turned around. She was just gorgeous.


Caitlin & Robert have something so special. They met in high school and have spent around the last 5ish years dating.

What an honor it was to be Lauren & Jeff's photographer at their wedding...it was such a joy and a blessing to work with their families and watch this day come together so smoothly and beautifully. They were married at Harpeth Hills Church of Christ and their reception was held at Old Natchez Country Club. Their wedding was a beautiful collaboration from the following vendors: flowers and design by Jim Knestrick with Knestrick By Design, Lauren's hair and makeup were done by Lisa Hunkin , wedding coordination by Marcia Husband, the cake by Claudette Tidwell. Lauren's bridal gown came from The White Room, and the mother of the bride and mother of the groom's dresses came from Special Touch Bridal Boutique.

Nashville Wedding - Brooks & Matthew

Here are some images from Brooks & Matthew's wedding which took place on June 18th. The ceremony was on the gorgeous lawn of Monroe Harding which was in the neighborhood of where Brooks grew up; it was such a lovely landscape and the weather was amazing. The reception was held at Rumours East which was the perfect venue for an intimate but cozy gathering of family and friends. Brooks spent careful consideration on all her decor and details...Matthew is a rare books collector and so they had some of the classics spread throughout the reception. So many beautiful details I didn't even include here, including the desert table with scrumptious pies, botchy ball fun and all the wonderful family that was in attendance. Engagement - Russell & Courtney

Courtney and Russell are getting married next year in 2012. We went ahead and did their engagement session and had so many beautiful moments as the sun was setting, gorgeous brown fields and a butterfly who made a special visit. Congratulations guys!

Courtney & Russell had the funnest moment together on this part of the shoot. Russell spotted a butterfly whose wing was on the mend and it crawled all over them! It was so cool. : )

I'm proud to announce my younger sister, Briana, is a mother of their first child, Beckham. (nice name huh?) : ) John Beckham Pitt to be exact. Our dad passed away 1.5 years ago and it was neat to also have the family name for this little cutie pie. So here are a few of my sister and her little one. Her husband, John, is finishing up medical school so he wasn't in town for this visit, otherwise he'd be in these shots too. (And this is *not* me, some have asked). We look a lot a like but nope, not me.

Nashville Wedding - Kelsey & Chadd

Kelsey & Chadd had their photos done at Travellers Rest before the ceremony at their home church, Donelson Fellowship. When they first saw each other in the private side garden, it was really precious. Everyone watched from a distance as they spoke and saw each other for the first time. The group photos and family photos were done there as well then we all traveled to Donelson Fellowship where beautiful strung lights and lit candles filled the room. Several people commented that as they entered the room before anyone even arrived there was such a peace there. I felt it too! It was as if Heaven was waiting and poised to unite these two. I don't think a dry eye was present as the ceremony began (including myself)...now you know when the photographer cries behind the lens, something special was definitely taking place b/w this lovely couple. : )

Morgan & Drew are getting married on New Years Eve of this year and so we planned to have some engagement photos done of them somewhere fun. Drew loves to golf, so you'll see on the last shot how we incorporated that and then we thought it'd be fun to do some ice cream first in downtown Franklin. Loved how these turned out! You guys were such a joy to be around and so patient in the hot weather!

Teen - Cotillion Graduation

Miss Archer just recently went through Cotillion classes in Brentwood, TN and her parents wanted to take some nice photos of her in her white dress before her graduation ceremony. It was a really sweet time. I never went through Cotillion but am finding it is a really neat thing for young women. It teaches them a lot of manners and social etiquette that allows these young ones to really stand out .

Beth is one of my good friends. She's my prayer partner, international travel mate (Haiti), and someone I can just go to when I need a listening ear, sound advice or a really good laugh (a loud one too). I'm so thankful for her. We took some photos for a couple important things in her life..um, yeah, just some magazine articles. She's several years into having started her own non-profit, called eXile International helping children of war. Yep, she's pretty amazing and I'm thankful to call her friend. Oh, and while on this shoot, she took photos of me too! Boy was that fun and I learned a lot about being on the end of the camera. Thanks, Lady. You're the best. We took so many but just posting a hand full.

I always like to know what sort of environment couples want...the feel of it all. And they told me they wanted to be near water. I had the perfect place in mind. Raegan Turns Two

Raegan just turned two and the party theme was Two by Two...into the Ark. Her mom, Kami couldn't have done a more incredible job of making this party a hit. Last weekend I had the great opportunity to get together with the Dedmon clan. We had 7 adults, 3 children and 6 (very well-behaved) dogs! I had a really good time with them - everyone was so prepared for this shoot. And I'm so thankful for the family who allowed us to use their amazing space to photograph on. Confession - I've been super behind on my blogging. Baby Hill has arrived since we took these photos at Christmas. But I wanted to go ahead and post this session because it was such a fun one. Shayne & Kristin Hill are halarious! What a beautiful couple - full of life, humor and love. When we took these their little one, Jesse, was almost here and the full moon was just around the corner and we thought we ought to get together for some shots of Kristin in her glory. Shayne was cracking me up the whole time, pretending to do awkward couple pregnancy shots...no shot guns, or watermelons made it into the shots (with great disappointment) but we got some good stuff here. : )

So... I've been patiently waiting to blog this session. Once the Christmas card arrived in mailboxes, I had the go-ahead. My sister, Lesli Douglass and her family hosted me at their home in Knoxville to photograph some new clients and friends of theirs, during which we captured these lovely moments on their property. I have to say this session really exhibits my niece & nephews beautifully - in both their best moments and then the tried and true brother-sisterly love. We definitely had some smiles and then there were moments where I just shot away during the not-so-happy moments...my favorites by the way! Loving these....And this bunch all started with the lovely couple you see here.


Just for the record, no heads were swapped on this photo...animals included. : )

We took this in morning light so the grass was a little damp for Dottie. Normally she's a little more fluffy.

Yep, she's the cutest. Loved having the personal touch of Lesli's furniture in the field!

Getting the faces we want takes patience (and parents making funny faces behind me) but I enjoy the "getting there" process.

That's not Mamie sweetly caressing Walker's cheek; she's expressing her need for a little space and...looks like Walker is enjoying the fight. : )
